The National Wildlife Refuge System, managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, protects over 150 million acres across more than 560 refuges in all 50 states and U.S. territories. Established in 1903 with Pelican Island, the system safeguards diverse fish, wildlife, and plant species while offering public access for enjoyment and photography.
Through visits to 16 refuges in six states, my photography captures both the scenic beauty of these protected landscapes and the wildlife that inhabit them. From sweeping vistas to intimate animal portraits, the refuges provide endless inspiration for observation and art.
